Summer break resets more than just your students' memories. If you're staring at your Boom dashboard wondering, "Wait… how did I do this last year?" — you're not alone.

This quick, easy-to-follow guide answers the questions we hear most often, like how to update your email, assign decks, and interpret reports. Whether you're setting up your account again or troubleshooting something mid-year, these answers will get you back on track fast — no help desk ticket required.

Changing Your Email Address

change email imageOpen the Settings menu at the top right of your Boom account. Click My Settings. Click the pencil icon next to your current email to edit it. Clicking anywhere on the page automatically saves. Changing your email does not affect anything else on your account.

Important note:
login assistants (including Google, Clever, ClassLink, and Microsoft) will not automatically update after your primary email is changed. Toggle each sign‑in assistant off, then on, and follow prompts to reconnect.

Adding or Updating a Sign-In Method

Cookies must be enabled for Google or Microsoft sign‑in to work.

To update after changing your primary email, toggle the assistant off and then on again to reconnect with the updated address.

Assigning Decks in Boom and Integrating with LMS

Boom lets you assign decks directly or via LMS tools like Google Classroom, Clever, or ClassLink.

Assigning from Boom:

  1. Go to the Library tab.
  2. Click Action → Assign next to a deck.
  3. Choose a classroom or a student.
  4. Confirm by checking the box. Assignments appear in the student's Boom account under Assignments.

Alternatively, in Classes → [Class Name] → Assignments → Assign More Decks, check the decks to assign.

Using LMS (Google Classroom, Clever, etc.):

Copy a Hyperplay Link or Fast Pin from the Library.

  • A Fast Pin link lets students play without signing in. It expires after 5 days on a free account or 14 days on a paid account, and does not collect data.
  • A Hyperplay Link requires sign‑in and logs progress to Reports. It does not expire,

Paste that link into an assignment in your LMS following its assignment tools.

What Unassigning Decks Does and Why It May Hide Decks

Unassigning a deck from an individual student or class removes access from their Assignments list.

Sometimes, decks seem "hidden" because they are still assigned only to another class or student.

Always confirm which class or student is unassigned to avoid unintended removal.

Reports & Data Insights

Use the Reports tab to see deck performance.

Select a classroom, then pick deck and folder names from the dropdown. You'll see accuracy rates, attempt times, and which wrong choices students picked.

Reports show the best score and the most recent attempt per student.

These data points help identify who needs additional support or advanced challenge.

How to Share Students Between Classes

You can move or share student accounts across classrooms. Shared student access allows multiple teachers to assign decks and view reports.

To share, go to Classes, click on the student dropdown, and use the share or move options.

Be careful: shared students may appear in multiple Reports lists.
