Accessibility

At Boom Learning, our mission is to support all educators and students regardless of cognitive, visual, auditory, or motoric abilities. We are continually working to make our platform more inclusive and accessible, ensuring every student has the opportunity to engage fully in their own educational experience. Boom Learning supports a wide range of learners and assistive technology tools, offering industry-standard built-in accessibility features, including: 

1. Differentiated Content: Boom Learning and its Publishers provide content at various levels of complexity, including image/audio accessible text, and age-respectful differentiated lessons to ensure that learners can access and engage with the content.
2. Accessibility Features: Many of Boom Learning's activities include accessibility features such as two-switch step scanning, screen reader (i.e., JAWS, Chrome Vox), and auditory supports to address individual student needs.
3. Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Boom Learning resources support instruction aligned to the principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning), ensuring that learning experiences are accessible and engaging for all students. 
4. Focus on Individual Needs:  Not all students learn at the same pace or time. Boom Learning recognizes that every learner is unique and strives to provide solutions and lessons that meet individual needs and learning styles.
5. Accessibility Conformance Reports: There are four reports available for unique user experiences inside the Boom Web App. Each Accesssibility Conformance Report is based on VPAT® Version 2.5 and details how we conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA, 2.1 AA, and 2.2 AA.

Because we support a range of disabilities, not all materials are suitable for students with visual, motoric, or auditory disabilities and making them suitable would defeat the purpose of the disability they do serve. When reading our Student App Accessibility Report, you will see that we use "Partially Supports" to describe certain user-generated content. To find our catalog of materials that meet the "Fully Supported" criteria when administered without human intervention click here. Materials not listed there would also meet the Fully Supported criteria under WCAG 2.1 SC 1.1.1 when used as an assessment or exercise where providing a full equivalent would invalidate the measurement of the targeted skill (such as phonemic discrimination, visual-spatial reasoning, etc). Finally, additional materials are intended to be admnistered by a human and would meet the Fully Supported criteria when so administered.

By providing accessible and individualized materials and resources, we empower educators to create inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. Our features and policies are designed to ensure that students with a variety of needs can engage meaningfully with our platform and complete assignments as independently as possible. Accessibility is an integral part of how we design, build, and maintain our content offerings.

Boom Learning releases updates frequently, often including accessibility enhancements, and conducts regular third-party audits using both manual and automated testing methods. These evaluations guide ongoing improvements and help us align with evolving accessibility standards
